Tuney Tuesday #20: Lift (Shannon Noll)

Hey guys!

It's time for Tuney Tuesday number  TWENTY!!!! :D

Here are the rules:
Tuney Tuesdays is a weekly meme that Eileen at  ***Singing and Reading in the Rain***  and I at J.A.Y.A.! host. It's really easy! Just:

  • Once a week, on Tuesday, choose a song that you might be really into that particular week.
  • Include a video/cover art for that single if there is one (or the button for Tuney Tuesdays that I've made up. I'll put it later in the post.)
  • Include the lyrics
  • Write what you like about it in a review. Or write a few sentences about how it inspires you. Or how it relates to a book that you've been reading.
  • If you don't want to do your own song, you can use one of the songs that Eileen at ***Singing and Reading in the Rain*** or I have done for this week.

The song I chose to do this week is Lift by Shannon Noll. I first heard this song on the first season on the Biggest Loser Australia a few years ago (which I watched on YouTube)--it was the theme song. It was the perfect theme song about the contestants needing to just work hard even though it got really, really tough sometimes. And of course, I can totally see how this song can be used during everyone's life when they reach the tough times: you just gotta fight through it and keep your head up as you do, because you can overcome it. I know I'm not really diving into the deeper meaning of the song, but that's because, well, I think the lyrics speak for themselves here (and they speak pretty loud and clear, which I love). I feel like a lot of the songs I post about during TT have this kind of message, but I love that I can find so many different inspirational songs to share with you all, especially songs that you may not have heard before (such as Lift since Shannon Noll is an Australian singer). This is such a beautiful, empowering song, and I love that it's very raw in that it just comes out and says exactly what the song is meant to say as opposed to maybe using metaphors or something like that--it's just different, a good kind of different.

I know you're hurting
Feels like you're learning
'Bout life the hard way
And it ain't working

Seems like forever
That you've been falling
It's time to move on
You're life is calling, yeah

This was never meant to be the end
Close the book and start again

[CHORUS]
Cause I know how hard it can get
But you gotta lift
You gotta lift
And sometimes that's how it is
But I know you're stronger
Stronger than this
You gotta lift
You gotta lift

When you can feel your
Whole body's aching
What's left of your heart
It won't stop breaking
You gotta let go
You took a hit
Time to pick up now
Move on from this

This was never meant to be the end
Close the book and start again

[CHORUS]
Cause I know how hard it can get
But you gotta lift
You gotta lift
And sometimes that's how it is
But I know you're stronger
Stronger than this
You gotta

Lift yourself up above all the hurt
Don't give it
Wipe your eyes and remember
You're better than this
Let them know
That they took their best shot
And missed
C'mon and lift

This was never meant to be the end
Close the book and start again

[CHORUS]
Cause I know how hard it can get
But you gotta lift
You gotta lift
And sometimes that's how it is
But I know you're stronger
Stronger than this
You gotta lift
You gotta lift

Pick up now...
Pick up now...

That's all for this Tuney Tuesday folks!!! Until next time!!! :)

What's the Word? Weekend #19

Hey guys!!!
It's time for What's the Word? Weekend number 19!  :)

It was a rather quiet week for me (since I've been trying to relax and what not before I have to start working again in a few weeks).
So this weekend's news is:

The Bad News:
Got a couple more query rejections, but other than that, nothing really. :)
Well, except I still can't figure out what I want my next book to be about ... but that's okay.

The Good News:
I was finally able to finish my synopsis for West Coast, so I sent my full manuscript + synopsis to the agent that requested them. I also still haven't heard back from the other agent that has my full. So we'll see what happens; my fingers are crossed. :)

In other news:
I also submitted a couple of my short stories to some literary magazines that my school emailed me (and other creative writing students) about. It'll probably be months before I hear back from them, but hopefully it'll be good news. :)

Well, that's all for this weekend folks! Until next time!!! :D

Follow Me Friday #19

Hey guys! :D

It's time for Follow Friday number 19!!!

Let's take a look a this week's question:

Question: You are a matchmaker -- your goal, hook up two characters from two of your favorite books. Who would it be? How do you think it would go?

Answer: I would pick Chloe King from The Nine Lives of Chloe King and Jacob Black from Twilight. I don't know why--it kind of just came to me. Something about the fact that she's part cat and he's part wolf (a stretch from a dog) makes me think that this would either go really well or really bad since their animals are essentially opposites.

By the way, I just came back from seeing The Hunger Games movie (which is why I posted my FF later than usual), and I LOVED it! Hopefully I'll be able to get the second and third book, because I don't know if I can wait for the next movie to find out what happens next. So for those of you wondering if you should go see the movie, YOU SHOULD!

That's all for this Friday folks!!!
