Tuney Tuesday #21: The Fighter (Gym Class Heroes)

Hey guys! :D

I know it's been a while (almost a month!) since I've updated my blog, and I'm SUPER sorry about that!!!! I've just been SOOOO busy (and I still am, but I wanted to post so that you guys know that I am still invested in doing this blog and I'm still going to come on whenever I can). Hopefully in my next WWW post (fingers crossed that it'll be up this weekend), I can maybe elaborate on what I've been busy doing and give an update on my agent search .... but for now let's get on with this post, since I only have 18 more minutes before it's Wednesday where I am!!! :)

So, without further adieu:
It's time for Tuney Tuesday number  twenty-one!!!! :)

Here are the rules:
Tuney Tuesdays is a weekly meme that Eileen at  ***Singing and Reading in the Rain***  and I at J.A.Y.A.! host. It's really easy! Just:
  • Once a week, on Tuesday, choose a song that you might be really into that particular week.
  • Include a video/cover art for that single if there is one (or the button for Tuney Tuesdays that I've made up. I'll put it later in the post.)
  • Include the lyrics
  • Write what you like about it in a review. Or write a few sentences about how it inspires you. Or how it relates to a book that you've been reading.
  • If you don't want to do your own song, you can use one of the songs that Eileen at ***Singing and Reading in the Rain*** or I have done for this week.

The song I chose to do this week is The Fighter by Gym Class Heroes (featuring Ryan Tedder). It's another great never-give-up song that I have in my inspriational playlist on itunes. I actually heard this song for the first time a couple weeks ago, so it's fairly new to the list, but I love it just the same. The lyrics are pretty straight forward, which I love: they basically say to live life to the fullest, and to go all out (hence why others will see you as a "fighter"); also, to not give up, even when you get knocked down, you should keep fighting. I also just noticed for the first time (having just watched the music video) that John Orozco is featured in the video. For those people who don't know who John Orozco is, he just recently (this past Sunday) got named as part of the Men's U.S. Gymnastics Team that is going to London this summer for the 2012 Olympics. Coming from a socioeconomically disadvantaged background, he has certainly had to fight to get to where he is today, so not only is this song perfect for what I enjoy posting about, but it turns out to be perfect timing: just in time for the Olympics (GO TEAM USA)!!!! :D

Just waking up in the morning
And to be well,
Quite honest with ya,
I ain't really sleep well
Ya ever feel like your train of thought's been derailed?
That's when you press on - Lee nails
Half the population's just waitin to see me fail
Yeah right, you're better off trying to freeze hell
Some of us do it for the females
And others do it for the retail

But I do it for the kids, life threw the towel in on

Every time you fall it's only making your chin strong
And I'll be in your corner like Mick, baby, 'til the end
Or when you hear a song from that big lady
[Bridge]
Until the referee rings the bell
Until both your eyes start to swell
Until the crowd goes home
What we gonna do ya'll?
[Chorus - Ryan Tedder]
Give em hell, turn their heads
Gonna live life 'til we're dead.
Give me scars, give me pain
Then they'll say to me, say to me, say to me
There goes the fighter, there goes the fighter
Here comes the fighter
That's what they'll say to me, say to me, say to me,
This one's a fighter
[Verse 2]
And if I can last thirty rounds
There's no reason you should ever have your head down
Six foot five, two hundred and twenty pounds
Hailing from rock bottom, loserville, nothing town

Text book version of a kid going nowhere fast

And now I'm yelling, "Kiss my ass"
It's gonna take a couple right hooks, a few left jabs
For you to recognize you really ain't got it bad
[Bridge]
Until the referee rings the bell
Until both your eyes start to swell
Until the crowd goes home
What we gonna do ya'll?
[Chorus - Ryan Tedder]
Give em hell, turn their heads
Gonna live life 'til we're dead.
Give me scars, give me pain
Then they'll say to me, say to me, say to me
There goes the fighter, there goes the fighter
Here comes the fighter
That's what they'll say to me, say to me, say to me,
This one's a fighter

Everybody put yo hands up

What we gonna do (hey!)
[x4] y'all?
What we gonna do (hey!)
[x3] y'all?

If you fall pick yourself up off the floor (get up)

And when your bones can't take no more (c'mon)
Just remember what you're here for
Cuz I know Imma damn sure

Give em hell, turn their heads

Gonna live life 'til we're dead.
Give me scars, give me pain
Then they'll say to me, say to me, say to me
There goes the fighter, there goes the fighter
Here comes the fighter
That's what they'll say to me, say to me, say to me,
This one's a fighter

'Til the referee rings the bell

'Til both ya eyes start to swell
'Til the crowd goes home,
What we gonna do kid?

Sorry, I know that this review is fairly short compared to some of my other ones, but I'm hoping that within the next couple weeks I'll be able to balance out my life and get back into the swing of things with writing posts and updating this blog. I don't know whether or not I'll be able to consistently go back to posting three times a week right away, but I promise that after the next five or six weeks, my blogging schedule will go back to normal because by then the craziness will DEFINITELY have died down at least a little bit.

That's all for this Tuney Tuesday folks!!! Until next time!!! :)
