Hey guys!!
So today is an AWESOME day, and not just because it's Friday.
First off, I'm FINALLY finished with Finals!!!!! YAY!!!!!!!!! Now I get a week long break which means writing, writing, blogging, and more writing (and some editing thrown in there too)!!!!
Second, this is my first ever Follow Me Friday, and I'm very excited about it!!!!! I can't wait to make new friends and read new blogs and follow new people... I can't express how awesome this is! I'm still kinda new to it and am still trying to figure out how to follow certain blogs (because I can't find the follow button, haha), but I know I'll figure it out!
Question: Which book genre do you avoid at all costs and why?
Answer: I wouldn't say I avoid any genre at all costs, only because I'm pretty open to reading anything. HOWEVER, to put it simply, I can be a real scardey cat; so I definitely have a low tolerance level for horror because I know that I'll end up not being able to go to sleep at night... so I definitely keep pure horror at a minimum!!!!!
So on that note: TGIF!!!! Time to either: (a) Take a nap, (b) Find some more awesome blogs to follow (c) Work on my story (and OMG I HAVE SO MANY EDITS TO DO IT'S RIDICULOUS...plus the last two chapters); or (d) all of the above....I'm not sure how I'd manage to do (d), but I'm gonna try, haha!
Enjoy your Friday everyone!!!!!!
X <3 O
And welcome to any new visitors on my blog I may possibly have! I'd love for you to comment to introduce yourself so I can get to know you and/or follow your blog!!!! :)
I don't read horror, either. Love your blog design! New follower :)

ReplyDeleteI am a scaredycat too so I have not read a lot of horror but I wish I could because I hear so many great things about Stephen King's writing.

Welcome to FF! I avoid historical romance. I don't think I've read more than one in my life.

Here's our #FF post
Maja @ The Nocturnal Library
I've seen horror on a lot of these today. I don't have much experience in the genre (Anna Dressed in Blood is the only one I've read), but I'm open to it as I don't get scared very easily. Congrats on your first FF post!! Love your enthusiasm, I returned the follow :)
ReplyDeleteJessi @ Auntie Spinelli Reads

ReplyDeleteI don't read horror either. Mainly because anyone who knows me knows that I scare SO easily and I'll probably scream for my life even if the wind blows. :P Old follower, by the way!

I can see that we totally agree on the horror thing. :) I just love your blog. It's so happily ever after-ish. Thanks for stopping by my blog and leaving me a comment. I'm following you back. Welcome to the book blog world.
ReplyDeleteI love your blog design, it is beautiful!! I do not like reading super scary horror either, not one likes having nightmares. Welcome to the Follow Friday hop, I hope you enjoy it! Thanks for stopping by my blog, and now I am following back. Cannnot wait to see what you have in store!
ReplyDeleteI like to read a good horror book from time to time, it's nice.
ReplyDeleteNew follower, thanks for stopping my by blog.
So much horror dislike today :) thanks for stopping by, followed back
ReplyDeleteFirst off, your blog is so cute! I'm so glad I stumbled across it through the FF post =)
ReplyDeleteHorror doesn't bother me in a book, mainly because I have a high tolerance for it. I don't get scared too easily and scary movies are my absolute favorite. But, if the book is just full of blood, guts and gore...then no, its probably not for me either. Unless of course there are zombies =)

ReplyDeleteAnd yes, horror, for me its horror and also books with graphic descriptions of killing, etc. That just turns my stomach upside down =\ not something i would like.
New follower!! :D

Thanks for stopping by my blog, just following you back. :) I am more of a fiction person myself, especially YA, but I read other stuff in the fiction genre as well.
ReplyDeleteI don't really mind horror, in fact is one of my favorite movie genres, even though I'm a big chicken (and yes, I still flail to cover my eyes and I'm in my twenties, haha!).
Thanks for stopping by! Following back!
ReplyDeleteEnjoy your week off!
Jennifer @ A Librarian's Library

Hi, I agree any genre I'm not interested in is one that I avoid . Thanks for following and hurray that your finals are over ! :) My FF
ReplyDeleteNew follow.
I forgot to say..."I love your blog header and the color" .
ReplyDeleteAw come on! I personally think that a good ghost story right before bed is just the thing to give you a good deep sound sleep... personally. Bahahaha! Yeah right! I don't find horrors hard to get through, but they definitely make it hard to get through the night afterwards.
ReplyDelete#following ya back
Hi J.B,
ReplyDeleteThank you for following my blog and stopping by to say hello. I am now following you as well. :) I feel the same, unless I have read the book genre and did not like it I always try to give every book a chance.
- Beckie @ http://www.bittersweet-enchantment.com/
Congrats in your finals. God, I hated finals when I was in school. Worst time ever. I like horror but I can see what you mean.
ReplyDeleteThanks for stopping by my blog.
Jennifer @ Reading and Writing Urban Fantasy and Paranormal Romance
I like all genres of book but the ones that most bog me down and that I try to avoid are autobiographies or biographies. :P
ReplyDeleteNew Follower, also love your blog design. It's so awesome!!
Oh, I do like my horror books. And movies. *-* LOL. I'm following back! ;)
ReplyDeleteI spent most of the day editing my book too. I love horror movies and horror books. They still keep me up late as hell though lol. Thanks for stopping by. Love your layout, I'm following back!

ReplyDeleteThanks for stopping by my blog. I am now following. I don't read horror either. I really like sleeping at night.
ReplyDeleteThanks for following my blog - I'm returning the follow! Congrats on finals being over! I'm just starting my semester, so I've got a ways to go before I can say the same thing, lol!
ReplyDeleteI have to say, I am a HUGE Stephen King fan, but that is about it for me when it comes to horror! Thanks for stopping by my blog!
ReplyDeleteCongrats on finishing your finals! I, unfortunately, still have a long ways to go.
ReplyDeleteStrangely, I don't get scared when reading books. I don't seek out horror books but I read a lot of monster books so I guess that's considered horror. I can appreciate the creepiness of something but it just doesn't scare me. Movies are a different story, I went to see Lord of the Rings when it came out in theaters and I ended up crying the whole way through because I was terrified. Thankfully, I've grown out of that but I still don't watch scary movies.
This comment turned out to be a lot longer than I had planned. Anyways, thanks for stopping by my blog. I'm following you also... and that sounded kind of creepy but you know what I mean.lol
P.S. I love your layout!!
Welcome to follow Friday!!
ReplyDeleteI am not a fan of Horror either...too gory for me!!
Happy reading and thanks for stopping by!! I am a new follower :)
Welcome to Follow Friday! I like horror but in small doses.
ReplyDeleteThanks for stopping by! I am following you back!
Following! You have the best header, by the way.
ReplyDeleteGreat answer. I used to be scared of the horror genre too, but I love reading about them. I can't stand horror that's based on real life situations though. Those are the worst.
ReplyDeleteThanks for stopping by and following. Am now following yours too,
Livin' Life Through Books
So true, give me alien horror any day! Following back from The Paperback Princesses. Have a great week off and good luck with the book. BTW Jonathan Maberry's YA horror is pretty good - there's a lot more to it than just zombies, I promise.
DeleteHey, I love your blog, I love horror novels. I like getting scared though. Movies are a different story, can't watch them, i turn into an insomniac lol. Good luck wiht your book and have a great weekend ;)
ReplyDeleteTristan @ Reads With Wreckless Abandon
Thanks for stopping by!
ReplyDeleteFollowing ya back. Great blog!
Esha@ Readaholicme
YAY for your first FF!!! Looks like it was Awesome!!!! Totally followed back:)
ReplyDeleteCompletely agree about horror. I have an overactive imagination and I don't need too much scary stuff in my brain. BTW I love your blog design!
ReplyDeleteFollowing back.
Jennifer @ Feminist Fairytale Reviews
That's cool you have week break! I really need a break from school!
ReplyDeleteI highly recommend Into the Forest by Jean Hegland. I used it for a challenge for my 'scary' read one year in October. Not horror, but will still leave you a little scared.
ReplyDeleteI'm a bit of a fraidy cat myself. Thanks for stopping by the blog and being so friendly. You have an awesome looking blog here.

Congratulations on finishing finals!
ReplyDeleteLike you, I'm not a big fan of being scared, so tend not to pick up horror.
Now following :)
Thanks for stopping by and I'm following you back.
ReplyDeleteYour blog design is magnificent.
Enjoy your time off.
Lovely blog design! Thanks for the follow~
ReplyDeleteI love your blog design. I like horror, but I don't read it that much anymore.
ReplyDeleteThanks for stopping by my blog.

Yay! I use to hate finals! Of course if they were just a paper I liked that!
ReplyDeleteI use to like some horror books. Tamara Thorne--believe that's her name, wrote some really good scare your pants off ones! They had ghosts involved or evil witches--at least the ones I read--and they were just creepy, yet good! Really the only horror books I ever enjoyed! They're kinda old and hard to find so I don't think I would be able to find any of her others.
But yeah, I'm still a scaredy cat too! Comes with having an over active imagination I suppose!
Thanks for visiting and following my blog! I follow you now too! And I soooo love the look of your blog! Very pretty!
Have a GREAT weekend!
NEW Follower :D
Thanks for stopping by. I actually have a issue with horror not because it scares me, but because it doesn't scare me. I don't watch horror movies, something about the music in them makes them scary. If they played happy kid tunes while they are slashing people with a knife I would most likely laugh.

I don't read much non-fiction but I am trying to be more open to all genres. Thanks for stopping by my FF! Following back. Happy reading
ReplyDeleteHi J.B. and welcome to Follow Friday! I don't like horror, but you already know that, btw thanks for stopping by!
ReplyDeleteI returned your follow :)
Congrats on finishing finals! I love thriller/horror (if it's not too gross or gory) but I often make the mistake of reading them at night! I'm now following. Thanks for stopping by my blog!
ReplyDeleteHopping through. Welcome to FF! I'm a new follower. I don't read horror much either.
ReplyDeleteI also have a low tolerance to horror and I hope the Dean Koontz novels I bought last year won't scare me too much but according to my friend who used to read Koontz, said that the Odd Thomas series wasn't very scary. :D Followed back. Good luck with your edits and finals.
ReplyDeleteI'm not a big fan of horror either.
ReplyDeleteThank you for following my blog, I am following you back! Love your blog btw!

I do like Stephen King as a favorite author and some ghost stories are good as long as they are not graphic. Thanks for hopping by and following. Welcome to the FF and yay finals week is over! New follower back....
ReplyDeleteA lot of people are giving the same answer :)
ReplyDeleteThanks for the follow. I followed back with GFC.
Oh yeah I'm a scaredy cat too! Doesn't help that I have animals that like to play at night and make all kinds of noises.
ReplyDeleteYour list of things to do following writing this is basically my list of things to do EVERY DAY. Argh!
ReplyDeleteI just finished exams too. I hope yours went as well as (I hope) mine did!
And the Horror- my, my to we agree! But's what is wrong with being a chicken or cat (no matter how scared)?!
I hope you continue to do the follow Fridays, their great fun and we get some really interesting questions sometimes (meaning really interesting answers).
