What's the Word? Weekend #47

It's time for What's the Word? Weekend number forty-seven!  :)

So let's take a look at this weekend's news:

The Bad News:
No bad news that I can think of. :)

The Good News:
It's almost October 1st! Now, that probably doesn't sound like a big deal to most/all of you (unless of course it's your birthday, in which case Happy Early Birthday!), but the date is exciting for me! Why? Because on October 1st, one of the teen/tween publisher's I want to query is open to submissions! I tried querying them back in June, not knowing that they were closed to submissions at the time (because it doesn't say on their website). Anyway, they are a fairly new (almost two year-old) publisher, but the works they've published so far have done well and I think their covers are beautiful, so I'm excited to take a chance on them come this Wednesday. Hopefully they'll like my query letter (and won't hold it against me that I queried them back in June) and ask for a full request! Here's to hoping!!!!

In other news:
I'm still waiting to hear back from the publishers that currently have my manuscript. And the wait continues ...

Well, that's all for this weekend folks! Until next time! :)

It's time for Feature & Follow Friday number thirty-six!!!

Let's take a look at this week's question:

QUESTION: Book character(s) you'd like to see with their own Twitter page?

ANSWER: Wow, that's such a good (and tough) question! I would definitely want it to be someone that would not only tweet frequently but also post about interesting and/or quirky things. I think some of the Harry Potter characters--Harry, Ron, Hermione, even Draco--could deliver on that.
Oh! I also think it would have been cool if Katniss could have tweeted throughout the Hunger Games trilogy. I know that the Hunger Games were broadcast all over Panem, but how fun would it be for her to give updates of what her and Peeta were doing as they went on (as long as it didn't give away anything to other tributes, of course).

Well, that's all for this Friday, folks! Until next time! :D

What's the Word? Weekend #46

It's time for What's the Word? Weekend number forty-six!  :)

So let's take a look at this weekend's news:

The Bad News:
No bad news that I can think of. :)

The Good News:
I submitted to another publisher last week, which I'm really excited about. I'm not entirely sure, but from the research I've done on them, it looks like they either offer you a contract or offer a revise & resubmit when they respond to authors' submissions (of course, they may also reject some manuscripts for various reasons as well, such as it isn't the type of book they publish). I'm excited about this publisher because not only have some of their authors gone on to be bestselling authors, but there also seems to be a real community among the authors (they all seem to really support each other, as does the publisher itself). Now of course, I have no idea whether they will even like Rhyme And Reason, but I really hope that they do! Based on my research, it seems that the earliest they respond is in 9-10 days from submission, but they ask that authors wait until 8 weeks to inquiry about a submission (since you send them the entire manuscript plus a query and synopsis). Anyway, I don't know who (if anyone) will like my manuscript, but I think it'll be nice to hear from this publisher either way because at the end of the day I would love some feedback on my manuscript because I haven't really gotten any on it. So my fingers and toes are crossed, as usual!

In other news:
I'm still waiting to hear back from the publisher who asked me to fill out the interview last weekend. But I noticed that they had a fundraiser for thyroid cancer going on this weekend, and I think the editor is putting out the second book in her debut series any day now, so I'm sure they've been busy with those events.

Well, that's all for this weekend folks! Until next time! :)
