What's the word? Weekend #43

It's time for What's the Word? Weekend number forty-three!  :)

I know, it's been a while AGAIN...sorry guys! I know I say that a lot, but I really am!!! It was a really busy summer for me, between work, school (I audited a course), life....I barely found the time to write, let alone post!
But I'm here now! So let's take a look at what's going on:

The Bad News:
I received a few rejections from some of the publishers that I queried.

The Good News:
I got a full request from a publisher this afternoon! It feels especially good because it's the first request I've gotten from a publisher (and quite honestly I was beginning to question whether querying publishers directly was a good move for me)! I'm also excited because this specific publisher requests that you send them a synopsis and the first three chapters in order to query them, so that means the editor who emailed me (1) has read my synopsis and likes the storyline; and (2) has read the first few chapters and likes my writing. The editor said it will be a while before I hear back on the full request, but that's okay--it just made my day that she even requested from me. So my fingers AND toes are crossed that she'll like the whole manuscript! I also still have a few queries out there, so I'm hopeful about those too!

In other news:
On Friday, I moved into my new dorm room! It's kind of small (especially compared to the rooms I had as an undergraduate), but I was very fortunate to get housing on campus, because most people in the program I'm in do not. My parents spent the weekend helping me unpack and get settled in, so this is the first night that I'm spending in my dorm. The only "problem" with my room: my window doesn't have a screen and the window doesn't lock. The good news is that I live on the sixth floor, so I don't think I have to worry about anyone coming in through the window; the bad news is I'm on the sixth floor, so having a wide open window may not be the wisest idea (until I get a screen for it). Tomorrow is orientation, so I'm really excited about getting started (by meeting my classmates and meeting my advisers/professors).

Well, that's all for this weekend folks! Until next time! :)
