Tuney Tuesday #38: Jar of Hearts (Christina Perri)

Hey guys!!!

It's time for Tuney Tuesday number  thirty-eight!!!! :)

Here are the rules:
Tuney Tuesdays is a weekly meme that I do. It's really easy! Just:
  • Once a week, on Tuesday, choose a song that you might be really into that particular week.
  • Include a video/cover art for that single if there is one (or the button for Tuney Tuesdays that Eileen over at ***Singing and Reading in the Rain*** made.)
  • Include the lyrics
  • Write what you like about it in a review. Or write a few sentences about how it inspires you. Or how it relates to a book that you've been reading.
  • If you don't want to do your own song, you can use the song that I've done for this week.

The song I chose to do this week is Jar of Hearts by Christina Perri. I absolutely love this song! I cannot believe I haven't done a posting of this song yet--this is the most listened to song on my itunes thus far (with 515 plays as of now). I know every single word to this song. Even though it's technically not an inspirational song in the sense of the others songs I've written about--it's a break up song--I still think it sends a great message about an ex who did her wrong. I also really love the music video. It uses dancers that were on the television show So You Think You Can Dance, which I think is really special not only because I LOVE SYTYCD, but also because I first heard this song on SYTYCD. It was on this show that Christina Perri really became known; Jar of Hearts was used in one of the contemporary dances, and then in a following results show Christina Perri came on and sang the song live. From then on, I was a huge CP fan (even before her song on the Twilight album came out). I love Christina Perri's voice--it's so unique and raw and beautiful. This song is kind of like a women-power song in the sense that she's calling out this guy as being a player, and she refuses to just be another girl that he leaves broken-hearted. Such an incredible song, such an amazing talent in Christina Perri, it's just...gah, I love it!

Here is the SYTYCD dance that first introduced me to the wonderful Christina Perri:

Here is a video of Christina Perri singing Jar of Hearts live (unfortunately I can't embed a video of her singing it on SYTYCD, so you'll have to go to YouTube to watch it):

Lyrics (courtesy of azlyrics.com):
No, I can't take one more step towards you
'Cause all that's waiting is regret
Don't you know I'm not your ghost anymore
You lost the love I loved the most

I learned to live half alive
And now you want me one more time

And who do you think you are?
Runnin' 'round leaving scars
Collecting your jar of hearts
And tearing love apart
You're gonna catch a cold
From the ice inside your soul
So don't come back for me
Who do you think you are?

I hear you're asking all around
If I am anywhere to be found
But I have grown too strong
To ever fall back in your arms

And I've learned to live half alive
And now you want me one more time

And who do you think you are?
Runnin' 'round leaving scars
Collecting your jar of hearts
And tearing love apart
You're gonna catch a cold
From the ice inside your soul
So don't come back for me
Who do you think you are?

And it took so long just to feel alright
Remember how to put back the light in my eyes
I wish I had missed the first time that we kissed
'Cause you broke all your promises
And now you're back
You don't get to get me back

And who do you think you are?
Runnin' 'round leaving scars
Collecting your jar of hearts
And tearing love apart
You're gonna catch a cold
From the ice inside your soul
So don't come back for me
Don't come back at all

And who do you think you are?
Runnin' 'round leaving scars
Collecting your jar of hearts
Tearing love apart
You're gonna catch a cold
From the ice inside your soul
Don't come back for me
Don't come back at all

Who do you think you are?

Who do you think you are?

Who do you think you are?

Well, that's all for this Tuney Tuesday, folks! Until next time!
