Tuney Tuesday #31: Skyscaper (Demi Lovato)

Hey guys!!!

It's time for Tuney Tuesday number  thirty-one!!!! :)

Here are the rules:
Tuney Tuesdays is a weekly meme that I do. It's really easy! Just:

  • Once a week, on Tuesday, choose a song that you might be really into that particular week.
  • Include a video/cover art for that single if there is one (or the button for Tuney Tuesdays that Eileen over at ***Singing and Reading in the Rain*** made.)
  • Include the lyrics
  • Write what you like about it in a review. Or write a few sentences about how it inspires you. Or how it relates to a book that you've been reading.
  • If you don't want to do your own song, you can use the song that I've done for this week.

The song I chose to do this week is Skyscraper by Demi Lovato. I was actually really surprised to see that I hadn't done a post for this song already! It's such a beautiful song, and it's one of the songs on my inspirational songs list on itunes. Demi Lovato is an incredible singer, and the fact that she's only about my age and yet she can sing so powerfully is simply amazing! Demi Lovato recorded this song before her stay in rehab for an eating disorder, and she used Skyscraper as a way to tell the story of the darkness that she was going through. She actually said that she tried re-recording it after her stay in rehab, but it just didn't sound the same, so she kept the original recording. It's such a powerful song, and you can really hear and feel the emotion through Demi's voice. The song says that no matter what, whether people put her down or try to tear her down, Demi plans on raising up, which she has most certainly done since coming out of rehab. There's really nothing more for me to say about this incredible, powerful, and inspirational song sung by an incredible, powerful, and inspirational woman. I love Skyscraper and Demi Lovato.

Here is the Official Music Video for Skyscraper:

Also, below I've posted a few videos of other artists (Fifth Harmony, Cimorelli, and Kelly Clarkson) doing a cover of the song to show just how inspiring Skyscraper is to girls and women everywhere, even those that are famous.

Lyrics (courtesy of azlyrics.com):
Skies are crying, I am watching
Catching tear drops in my hands
Only silence as it's ending
Like we never had a chance
Do you have to make me feel like
There's nothing left of me?

You can take everything I have
You can break everything I am
Like I'm made of glass
Like I'm made of paper
Go on and try to tear me down
I will be rising from the ground
Like a skyscraper
Like a skyscraper

As the smoke clears, I awaken
And untangle you from me
Would it make you feel better
To watch me while I bleed?
All my windows still are broken
But I'm standing on my feet

You can take everything I have
You can break everything I am
Like I'm made of glass
Like I'm made of paper
Go on and try to tear me down
I will be rising from the ground
Like a skyscraper
Like a skyscraper

Go run, run, run
I'm gonna stay right here,
Watch you disappear
Yeah, oh
Go run, run, run
Yeah, it's a long way down
But I am closer to the clouds up here

You can take everything I have
You can break everything I am
Like I'm made of glass
Like I'm made of paper
Oh Oh
Go on and try to tear me down
I will be rising from the ground
Like a skyscraper
Like a skyscraper

(Like a skyscraper)

Like a skyscraper
Like a skyscraper

Well, that's all for this Tuney Tuesday, folks! Until next time!

X <3 O
