Follow me Friday! #2



Hey guys! Here's my second Follow Friday Post:

Question: Define what characteristics your favorite books share. Do they all have a kickass heroine or is the hot love interest the Alpha Male?

Answer: Hmmmm, that's a tough one. The first thing that came to mind when I read this question was that my favorite books tend to be told in first person; whether it's a boy or girl narrator. I think as a result they all tend to be strong, kickass heroes or heroines, (well, except Bella from Twilight who I'm still a fan of). I gotta admit that I LOVE a hot guy with a bad boy attitude; I think it's so awesome and I find myself immediately drawn to that. I also love a narrator who can stand up for him or herself, even if that comes off as overly confident or even a little cocky sometimes! :)



So in other important news today .... I FINISHED MY BOOK!!!! YAAAAAAAAAAY!!!!!! :D
My total word count for the first finished draft of The Zebra Stripes ended up being: 80,510 words!!!!!! That's over 10,000 more words than my first book was at its final draft .... and this is only the first draft!!!!!

I started: December 23, 2011
And I finished: February 3, 2012

So considering I had school/studying for finals and other activities mixed in between all of those days, I'd say I made pretty good time for myself ... what can I say, once I get started, I can't stop! ;)

I'm probably going to start editing today (after visiting as many awesome Follow Friday posts on other blogs as I can!), because I had anticipated at least going through my finished draft once before I got back to school (which I am returning to on Superbowl Sunday). I think I can do it, or at least get close, within the next day or two ... I'm REALLY dedicated to this in case you didn't notice haha! :D

    Great answers! I've always been a sucker for the male characters with a bad boy attitude, but in real life it's a bit annoying...:P

    Wow that's awesome on finishing your book in such a short time! I've been a bad little aspiring writer. I haven't done much of anything in awhile. I was querying my first book last year and getting my share of rejection after rejection and then some more rejections.

    Gotta start working on my second book and giving that a try. But it needs massive editing done to it.

    I think I like 1st person narratives better too! Still read a book if it's 3rd or whatever. And some have been really really good! But I like being inside the narrator's head!

    I love the (fictional) bad boy image, but deep inside he's a gentle soul, albeit tortured...lol
