Tuney Tuesday #45: Blame It On September (Allstar Weekend)

Hey guys!!!

It's time for Tuney Tuesday number  forty-five!!!! :)

Now I can't promise that I'll be doing TT as frequently as I used to (I don't want to bite off more than I can chew, especially since I'm still working on getting back into posting at least once per week), but I'll do my best!

Anyway, here are the rules:
Tuney Tuesdays is a weekly meme that I do. It's really easy! Just:

  • Once a week, on Tuesday, choose a song that you might be really into that particular week.
  • Include a video/cover art for that single if there is one (or the button for Tuney Tuesdays that my friend Eileen made.)
  • Include the lyrics
  • Write what you like about it in a review. Or write a few sentences about how it inspires you. Or how it relates to a book that you've been reading.
  • If you don't want to do your own song, you can use the song that I've done for this week.

Since the last Tuney Tuesday post I did was back in September 2013, and it was for the song
Wake Me Up When September Ends by Green Day, and it's September 2014 right now, I thought it'd be cool to do another song revolving around the month of September. Coincidentally, Blame It On September by Allstar Weekend was on my (super old) list of TT songs to do, so that's the song I chose to do this week. I actually haven't listened to this song in a while, so I forgot how attached I was to it. This isn't the first Allstar Weekend song that I've done a post on (I also did a TT post for Not Your Birthday), so I'm happy that I can pay homage to the great group yet again. As I mentioned in my other post, Allstar Weekend split up a while back, but I still listen to the few songs of theirs that I have.
Even though Blame It On September is about a romance ending at the end of summer because the couple goes separate ways, I like to interpret this song as summer fun in general ending with the end of summer. It's always depressing when September comes around, not necessarily because I don't want to go to school or anything like that, but because it's just so hard to give up the fun that comes with summer (whether that's vacation, the beach, the amusement park, summer camp, or just doing absolutely nothing). So we can "blame it on September" because if August never ended and September never came, then we wouldn't have to put the summer behind us (if only that were true...). Anyway, I think this song has a good beat to it--it's not exactly upbeat but it's not exactly mellow either, and I like that.

Here is the Official Music Video of Blame It On September. This is my first time seeing the music video, and I think it's cute. :)

Lyrics courtesy of azlyrics.com:
I can still see you standing there
Summer tangled in your hair
First week of July
First day of my life

My voice shook when I said hello
And from that word, we couldn't take it slow
I still can't believe
The way you looked at me

Now the nights turn colder
Your head's on my shoulder
We do our best to pretend
Waves get louder
I'm lost without her
As summer starts to end

Let's blame it on September
'Cause it hurts to remember her
We can fight to hold on
But August is gone
And even if the sun falls
I hope we don't lose it all
'Cause no summer lasts forever
Just blame it on September

We drew hearts there in the sand
Laughed when waves erased our plans
No, we never knew
But they told the truth

I can still hear our laughing friends
As we sneak off again and again
No we never cared
Too young to be scared
The nights turn colder
Your head's on my shoulder
As summer starts to end

Let's blame it on September
'Cause it hurts to remember her
We can fight to hold on
But August is gone
And even if the sun falls
I hope we don't lose it all
'Cause no summer lasts forever
No

On the beach
In the heat
You know I need that sweet ocean air
I'm gonna go
Where I know we can be alone
I'll wait for you
Wait for you there

Blame it on September
We can try to hold on
But August is gone

Blame it on September
'Cause it hurts to remember her
We can fight to hold on
But August is gone
When the sun falls
I hope we don't lose it all
'Cause no summer lasts forever
Let's blame it on September
Blame it on September

I can still see you standing there
Summer tangled in your hair

Well, that's all for this Tuney Tuesday, folks! Until next time!

    1. I don't really remember when I first heard Blame It On September, but it may have popped up in YouTube while I was watching a different Allstar Weekend music video.
Anyway, I really like Wake Me Up When September Ends too--it's a classic in my books.

Thanks for following me back, Kero :)
