What's the Word? Weekend #15

Hola amigos!!!

It's time for What's the Word? Weekend numero quince! :D

Alright so, the news for this weekend issssss:

The Bad News:
I got a couple more query letter rejections.
No bad news this week (YAY!) :)

The Good News:
Wow, where do I begin? Ummm...

Okay, so one, let me just start by saying: I'm done with classes for my sophomore year!!!! Now I only have three weeks (well, two weeks and five days) until I get to go home for the summer! My family visited this weekend, which was great, so I think that was the little boost I needed to be able to get through these last few weeks of finals. :)

Also, I finished my book!!!!! I actually finished it Friday afternoon, but it's still really exciting!!! The final total word count (for this first draft) is: 47,734 words. I still have a lot of editing to do, but I feel pretty good about it. :D

Last, but certainly not least: I GOT MY FIRST WORK PUBLISHED!!!! It's actually a poem, not a story, that I wrote, but I'm still just as excited! It was actually posted up on the magazine's website back in the middle of April, but I honestly had NO idea that it got published until Friday when they emailed me about the May 2012 issue of their magazine (and there was a link to my poem, and a couple other works done by other people, in the email). I think that means that it's gonna be in the May issue of the printed magazine, but I'm not sure, so I'm gonna email the magazine about it. But anyway, I'm pretty pumped about it!!! :D :D :D

Haha, I just realized that all of my good news happened on Friday (5/4/12) ... boy, what a great Friday I had! :D

In other news:
Oh, and I still haven't heard back from either agent with The Zebra Stripes yet ... I'm starting to get concerned about it, since neither of them sent out a confirmation on receiving my work (though I think these two agents happen to just not do that for anyone since they're so busy), but I'm going to wait at least until I'm done with school before I send them any sort of nudge.

Annnd, yeah ... That's all for this weekend folks! Until next time!!! :D

Oh, and: Feliz (Tardío) Cinco de Mayo a todos!!! <:D

This is my year, this is my time, this is my now.

  1. Congratulations on getting a poem featured in a magazine! It's a start right? Hopefully an agent will read it, and remember that he/she has your query, re-read it and love it! Or a new agent will be interested in it and ask you for a copy of your manuscript! :)

    1. Thanks Eileen!
Yes, it's DEFINITELY a start, and everyone has to start somewhere! :D

Haha I don't know about an agent reading it, but you're often advised to put any publishing history you have into your query letter. I'm still on the fence about whether or not I'm going to put it in my query letter since it's a poem, but we'll see.

      Thanks again! :)

  2. Thanks for the follow. And YAY for finishing up sophomore year. I'm thisclose to being done with my senior year. O_O

Good luck querying... I hate the waiting. It really sucks. :p What is the Zebra Stripes about? (Is there something anywhere on AW?) :)

Thanks Rachel! Waiting really does suck, haha :P

I don't want to say what The Zebra Stripes is about just yet, but hopefully I'll be able to share with everyone (and give a little sample of it) one day soon :)
