What's the Word? Weekend #11

Hey guys!

It's time for What's the Word? Weekend numero once! :D

So I don't have too much news for this weekend (because I have a SECOND midterm for my stats class AND a spanish quiz I'm studying for, both of which are Monday Morning):

The Bad News:
I've gotten a few more query letter rejections this week.

The Good News:
The one agent who I'm excited about still has my full for The Zebra Stripes. So I'm happy about that. :)

I also have a few ideas floating around in my mind as to how I could possibly change TZS to be more distinctly middle grade, should this agent end up rejecting it. I don't know if I'll end up using the current ideas I have, whether the full is rejected or not ... but I feel like it's a start, and I'm happy just to be brainstorming. :)

In other news:
I've started a third book! Now, I'm only gonna be writing it in my spare time (or so I tell myself), but I feel as though I can't let this idea get away from me ... I feel like it needs to be written, you know? I've started QUITE A FEW books (in fact, I think I've started like, 2 or 3 this past week alone haha) and written a few thousands words to get them started ... but I always seem to fall out of love with them (I start to feel as though they aren't as original/unique as I want them to be). With this one, though I've already gone through my usual ups and downs (should I keep writing it, I love it, it's dumb ... the typical roller coaster I go through when writing my books haha), I feel like it's unique enough to where I need to get this idea down on paper ASAP if that makes sense. I've outlined it and everything ... now it's just about finding the time to write it (since there's only 4 more weeks of classes, and then 3 weeks of finals for me). So I doubt I'll be writing it that much during the next couple months, but I'm determined to stick with this book and have this be the next book I write to completion, and not just drop it around the 10,000 word mark (that seems to be the curse number of words for me ... I always find myself stopping around there for some reason haha).

Haha it seems like I'm always posting WWW on some holiday. This week, HAPPY EASTER!!!! :D

I hope you all enjoy the rest of your weekend! :D

This is my year, this is my time, this is my now.

  3. Well, sorry about your rejections. :( BUT, congratulations on your new book! It sounds awesome and I'm sure THIS one will be the lucky one, if your other book doesn't get published, which I'm pretty sure it WILL it published! Good luck with your tests, too! Wow, only two months of school left! It's hard to imagine, right? :)

I know, two months already?! 2012 has been going by FAST (though now that I said that, it's probably gonna start going by slowly haha). :)

    1. Thanks icyhighs. That's great advice.
And I totally agree with you. I don't want to compromise my style/content if I don't have to. *Sigh* I think I'll just wait for this last agency who has my full and see what they have to say. *Fingers crossed*

      Thanks again. :)

  5. Well, firstly, congratulations to having finished two books! I already find it hard to complete a story. Once I had this fantastic idea bubbling around in my head which I just had to pen down. My mum dropped by, read that few thousand words and said that it sounded like a movie she once watched. Deflated, I abandoned the tale.
Ahh... So persevere! You've already come so far.
All the best! I'm sure you can succeed :)

    1. Haha thanks Sel!
It's definitely hard to complete a story (you don't know how MANY I've started that aren't finished), so don't get discouraged!
Aw, I'm sorry that happened ... I think it's good that you found out now before writing an entire story that seems too familiar to something else already out there, you know?
But I would make sure that the movie your mom was talking about is in fact where you planned on going with your book, especially since you were only a few thousand words into it (because a lot of books and movies start out similarly, but as the story progresses there are twists and turns that end up making it totally different). Don't get deflated!!! :)

And thanks again! All the best to you too! :D
