Follow Me Friday #23

Hey everyone!!! :)

It's time for Follow Friday number twenty-three!!!

Let's take a look at this week's question:

Question: When you step out of your USUAL genre what do you like to read? Best books in that genre?

Answer: Hmmm, I don't know if I have a "USUAL" genre that I stick to. I'm kind of all over the place to be honest (mystery, sci-fi, paranormal romance, chick lit, general YA, fantasy, etc.). So ... hunh, I don't know how to answer this question. Sorry my answer's kinda lame. :/
Though I will say, I think the one genre that is newer for me personally is dystopian. I read Brave New World in high school, and I thought it was a really good book ... but I definitely didn't enjoy it as much as I wanted to because of the stress of having to read X pages every night (on top of having other homework) and having quizzes on it and all that stuff. But yeah, that's a really good book that I would definitely recommend. But of course, the Hunger Games definitely opened (or I guess re-opened) my eyes up to dystopian really being a genre I love and want to continue reading more of!

Well, that's all for this Friday folks! Until next time!!!

  5. Seeing that answer a lot, so yeah, you aren't lame! Me, I am in my bubble of paranormal and hardly ever venture out! Even the mysteries, dystopians, and steampunks that I read have paranormal elements all over the place!

  6. I love fantasy and sci-fi and I've found myself reading alot of dystopian YA this year (thanks to the Hunger Games!) I know what you mean about having to read books for school and then for that reason it ruins your reading experience! I hope you read more dystopian soon there's some great ones out there :)

I love dystopians! There is such a huge variety of them. Not one dystopian book I've read was similar to another; that's why I like them so much.

  10. Dystopian novels are great! I think most of the greatest dystopian novels out there are in the YA genre. Then again, since I am a big YA fan, that's kind of subjective :P Have you read the Divergent Trilogy, it gets a lot of hypes. ;)

Followed via GFC, here's my FF. Feel free to read, comment and follow me on the blog! :)

  11. I don't really care for dystopian novels. I mean, I totally get why people like them, but they kind of freak me out too much to want to read them. I've never even read The Hunger Games :(

  15. I've recently became a fan of dystopian books--and even started to write my own dystopian story lol--, but I guess adult fiction would be where I got the most out of my usual genre...

  17. The Hunger Games introduced me to Dystopia! Since then I have read Divergent & Insurgent (which I LOVED) and even read Wither! Weird how stepping out of our fav genres can introduce us to other books we love just as much!!!!
