It's time for Tuney Tuesday number twenty-three!!!! :)
Here are the rules:
Tuney Tuesdays is a weekly meme that Eileen at ***Singing and Reading in the Rain*** and I at J.A.Y.A.! host. It's really easy! Just:
- Once a week, on Tuesday, choose a song that you might be really into that particular week.
- Include a video/cover art for that single if there is one (or the button for Tuney Tuesdays that I've made up. I'll put it later in the post.)
- Include the lyrics
- Write what you like about it in a review. Or write a few sentences about how it inspires you. Or how it relates to a book that you've been reading.
- If you don't want to do your own song, you can use one of the songs that Eileen at ***Singing and Reading in the Rain*** or I have done for this week.
The song I chose to do this week is We Are Never Ever Getting Back Together by Taylor Swift. Once again, I chose to do a song that isn't really inspirational, but I love this song so much that I knew I just had to do it. It's just so catchy, and upbeat (despite it’s, well, not sad lyrics but not really an upbeat kind of topic I guess). It’s definitely become one of my favorite T Swift songs, hands down. I also really liked her performance of this song on the MTV VMAs. To be honest, I thought it was pretty weird and strange at first when she suddenly comes out of the recording studio box and is surrounded by her band that’s dressed up as animals … I don’t know, it just surprised me. But, the overall performance definitely made me forget about being slightly crept out by the animals because Taylor actually danced! I mean, it wasn’t like professional dancing or anything, but just her whole performance in using the entire stage and actually moving her hips was really great, and made me want to watch the performance multiple times! I think it also showed a new side of Taylor in the sense that she’s still the amazing singer/songwriter she’s always been, but she has also grown up a little and is showing a more mature side (not that she was ever immature, she's just showing a more grown up side) if that makes sense. Anyway, I really love this song, and I really love her VMA performance.
Here is Taylor Swift's for WANEGBT music video:
This is the only (TV) version of Taylor Swift's VMA performance I could find on YouTube (it's not the best quality, but hopefully you still enjoy it):

I remember when we broke up the first time
Saying, "This is it, I've had enough," 'cause like
We hadn't seen each other in a month
When you said you needed space. (What?)
Then you come around again and say
"Baby, I miss you and I swear I'm gonna change, trust me."
Remember how that lasted for a day?
I say, "I hate you," we break up, you call me, "I love you."
Oooh we called it off again last night
But oooh, this time I'm telling you, I'm telling you
We are never ever ever getting back together
We are never ever ever getting back together
You go talk to your friends, talk to my friends, talk to me
But we are never ever ever ever getting back together
Like, ever...
I'm really gonna miss you picking fights
And me, falling for it screaming that I'm right
And you, would hide away and find your peace of mind
With some indie record that's much cooler than mine
Oooh, you called me up again tonight
But oooh, this time I'm telling you, I'm telling you
We are never ever ever getting back together
We are never ever ever getting back together
You go talk to your friends, talk to my friends, talk to me (talk to me)
But we are never ever ever ever getting back together
Oooh yeah, oooh yeah, oooh yeah
Oh oh oh
I used to think that we were forever ever
And I used to say, "Never say never..."
Uggg, so he calls me up and he's like, "I still love you,"
And I'm like... "I just... I mean this is exhausting, you know, like,
We are never getting back together. Like, ever"
No!
We are never ever ever getting back together
We are never ever ever getting back together
You go talk to your friends, talk to my friends, talk to me
But we are never ever ever ever getting back together
We, ohhh, getting back together,ohhh,
We, ohhh, getting back together
You go talk to your friends, talk to my friends, talk to me (talk to me)
But we are never ever ever ever getting back together
