Tuney Tuesday #24: Girl On Fire (Alicia Keys)

Hey guys!!!

It's time for Tuney Tuesday number  twenty-four!!!! :)

Here are the rules:
Tuney Tuesdays is a weekly meme that Eileen at  ***Singing and Reading in the Rain***  and I at J.A.Y.A.! host. It's really easy! Just:
  • Once a week, on Tuesday, choose a song that you might be really into that particular week.
  • Include a video/cover art for that single if there is one (or the button for Tuney Tuesdays that I've made up. I'll put it later in the post.)
  • Include the lyrics
  • Write what you like about it in a review. Or write a few sentences about how it inspires you. Or how it relates to a book that you've been reading.
  • If you don't want to do your own song, you can use one of the songs that Eileen at ***Singing and Reading in the Rain*** or I have done for this week.

The song I chose to do this week is Girl on Fire by Alicia Keys (featuring Nicki Minaj in the Inferno Version I have on itunes). I'm back to choosing an inspirational song for this week, and this song is definitely inspirational for all girls out there! The first time I heard this song was when Alicia Keys performed it on the MTV VMAs 2012 (as you can tell from this week and last week's song choices, I really enjoyed the VMAs this year, haha), and I thought it was a GREAT song! I think the best part was when Gabby Douglas (2012 Olympic Gold Medalist in Gymnastics) came on stage and did a couple tricks (since she's mentioned in Nicki Minaj's section of the song ... I bet that feels really awesome for a 16 year -old girl after coming back from winning gold for your country)! The song is basically self explanatory through the lyrics, about a girl dreaming big, going for her dreams, and accomplishing her dreams (and just being an all around amazing person while doing it). In the music video (which doesn't have Nicki Minaj), Alicia Keys is displaying all the multiple tasks women are remarkably able to accomplish during the day (from the kids to house chores to cleaning up to everything ... women can do it all!). Okay, so this song says it a lot more, poetically than I just did, but hopefully what I just said makes sense, haha! But yeah, I really, REALLY love this song a lot, and I don't know what else to say about it, except listen to it if you haven't already!

Here is the official music video for Girl on Fire. Unfortunately I couldn't find a video of when Alicia Keys performed it at the VMAs on YouTube, but hopefully you guys can find it somewhere else and watch it if you get a chance, because it's really awesome!
Oh, and I think it's so cute how Alicia used her son Egypt in part of the video (I think ... not completely sure, but it looks like him)!

Lyrics courtesy of azlyrics.com
She's just a girl, and she's on fire
Hotter than a fantasy, lonely like a highway
She's living in a world, and it's on fire
Feeling the catastrophe, but she knows she can fly away

Oh, she got both feet on the ground

And she's burning it down
Oh, she got her head in the clouds
And she's not backing down

This girl is on fire

This girl is on fire
She's walking on fire
This girl is on fire

Looks like a girl, but she's a flame

So bright, she can burn your eyes
Better look the other way
You can try but you'll never forget her name
She's on top of the world
Hottest of the hottest girls say

Oh, we got our feet on the ground

And we're burning it down
Oh, got our head in the clouds
And we're not coming down

This girl is on fire

This girl is on fire
She's walking on fire
This girl is on fire

Everybody stands, as she goes by

Cause they can see the flame that's in her eyes
Watch her when she's lighting up the night
Nobody knows that she's a lonely girl
And it's a lonely world
But she gon' let it burn, baby, burn, baby

This girl is on fire

This girl is on fire
She's walking on fire
This girl is on fire

Oh, oh, oh...

She's just a girl, and she's on fire

That's all for this Tuney Tuesday folks!!! Until next time!!! :)

X <3 O
