Follow me Friday! #7

Hey guys! :)

Time for this week's FOLLOW FRIDAY!!! :D

Okay so this week's question is ... :

Question:  Have you ever looked at a book's cover and thought, This is going to be horrible? But, was instead pleasantly surprised? Show us the cover and tell us about the book.

Answer: Aw, unfortunately my answer for this week is gonna be a boring one, because I don't think that's ever happened to me. :(
I know they say to "never judge a book by its cover," but I've been guilty of doing that every once in a while. I feel like the cover (well, aside from the blub on the back or inside flap) is what always speaks to me when I pick up a book I'm meant to read; so if the cover isn't speaking to me ... or is speaking, and saying "Put me down!" ... then I tend to shy away from reading it and find a different book.
It's horrible I know, because I'm sure I'm missing out on some awesome books! BUT, if the cover is mildly horrible but the back of the book description is awesome or really interesting, then I'm always willing to overlook a poor cover choice. :)

That being said, I can't wait to read some of the answers you all came up with!!!

That's all for this Friday folks! Until next time! :D

  1. The cover is the first thing I judge books by as well and if they don't appeal then I don't read.

  2. you're right it's a good way to do so. But sometimes we can be surprised, it's often some books I had as a gift.

I know I'm guilty of judging and even though I now know better I can't help but think twice when I see the cover.

  10. Hey there! Thanks for stopping by my blog Book that Thing. I'm an old GFC follower!
Had the same initial reaction to this question. Then I remembered not liking a cover all that much. I really recommend reading my pick The Sweet Gum Tree by Katherine Allred despite the cover lol...that is if you like a truly enjoyable & emotional contemporary romance (with a bit of nostalgic elements to it).
    Again, thanks for stopping by.

  11. I agree. It's very hard to pick up a book with an awful cover. I need a friend's recommendation if it's a truly awful cover.

Thanks for stopping by the blog! Old follower!

  12. Thanks for stopping by my blog, I'm following back :)

Covers are a big deal. They show how much faith the publishers have in the book and the author. If they have a big budget for the cover and go all out, they are probably expecting to make a lot of money back from the book. If they have a horrible cover, then that is saying something. Or at least that is how I view it.
