Tuney Tuesday #13: I Won't Give Up (Jason Mraz) / WWW #12 (Cont'd)

Hey guys!

It's time for Tuney Tuesday 13!!!! :D

Here are the rules:
Tuney Tuesdays is a weekly meme that Eileen at  ***Singing and Reading in the Rain***  and I at J.A.Y.A.! host. It's really easy! Just:
  • Once a week, on Tuesday, choose a song that you might be really into that particular week.
  • Include a video/cover art for that single if there is one (or the button for Tuney Tuesdays that I've made up. I'll put it later in the post.)
  • Include the lyrics
  • Write what you like about it in a review. Or write a few sentences about how it inspires you. Or how it relates to a book that you've been reading.
  • If you don't want to do your own song, you can use one of the songs that Eileen at ***Singing and Reading in the Rain*** or I have done for this week.

The song I chose to do this week is I Won't Give Up by Jason Mraz.  A friend of mine posted the music video for this song on her Facebook last night, and I happened to see it on my news feed just before I went to bed. There was a part of me that thought the song title sounded familiar, and another part of me that thought I'd never heard it before ... but soon after watching like twenty seconds of the video, and searching through my itunes, I realized that I already had this song in my music library (and I just never listed to it, haha!).
I Won't Give Up is such a beautiful song. When just listening to the lyrics, I thought it was more of a love song ... but when I listened to it while watching the music video, I realized that it's another one of those awesome songs with many interpretations. I think the song title explains it all: don't give up, no matter what is thrown your way, because you're worth it. Jason Mraz is an amazing artist, and I LOVE all the songs of his that I've listened to ... and I have to thank my friend that posted this song on her wall yesterday, because I may have forgotten about this powerful, inspiring song if it wasn't for her. After I saw the video, I felt like it was meant to be, so I figured this would be the perfect inspirational song to post today.

Lyrics courtesy of azlyrics.com:
Hmmmm ... Hmmmm ... Hmmmm ... Hmmm ...

When I look into your eyes

It's like watching the night sky
Or a beautiful sunrise
There's so much they hold
And just like them old stars
I see that you've come so far
To be right where you are
How old is your soul?

I won't give up on us

Even if the skies get rough
I'm giving you all my love
I'm still looking up

And when you're needing your space

To do some navigating
I'll be here patiently waiting
To see what you find

'Cause even the stars they burn

Some even fall to the earth
We've got a lot to learn
God knows we're worth it
No, I won't give up

I don't wanna be someone who walks away so easily

I'm here to stay and make the difference that I can make
Our differences they do a lot to teach us how to use
The tools and gifts we got yeah, we got a lot at stake
And in the end, you're still my friend at least we did intend
For us to work we didn't break, we didn't burn
We had to learn how to bend without the world caving in
I had to learn what I've got, and what I'm not
And who I am

I won't give up on us

Even if the skies get rough
I'm giving you all my love
I'm still looking up
Still looking up.

I won't give up on us (no I'm not giving up)

God knows I'm tough enough (I am tough, I am loved)
We've got a lot to learn (we're alive, we are loved)
God knows we're worth it (and we're worth it)

I won't give up on us

Even if the skies get rough
I'm giving you all my love
I'm still looking up

What's the World Weekend #12 (Impromptu Continuation)

So I know that I didn't post my What's the Word? Weekend #12 post until yesterday, but I just wanted to share something that happened to me today... : I got another partial request for The Zebra Stripes!!! :D
I was really surprised when I got the email this morning, mainly because I've gotten to the point where I kinda tell myself that there's no point in reading the query responses (though I ALWAYS do) because it will be just another rejection (it's sort of how I prepare myself to receive a rejection letter ...). So I opened the email, and did what I usually do: I scanned it for the part that says, "this is not quiet right for me at this time" or "I'm going to have to pass" or something like that. Only in this email, the agent, who was not the agent I queried, said that she ran across my query (because there is one communal agency email you send query letters to, and then specify which agent your query is for; I directed it to a different agent in the subject line) and read it with interest! Then she asked if I could send the first fifty pages to her email because she'd love to look at it for me!
So a couple hours ago I sent it off! Only one problem: this one particular agency likes sample pages to be formatted a specific way. Basically, I sent my partial in the wrong font (they ask for Times New Roman, whereas I sent it in the widely accepted Courier). I just remembered that they wanted a specific font after I hit the "send" button; so I resubmitted my 50 pages to her like ten minutes later. Hopefully since I was quick to catch my mistake, she won't care too much ...
Seriously, it's never just one email with me...

Also, I forgot to mention yesterday that the one agent with my full still has it; so my fingers and toes are still crossed for that too! :D

So ... maybe I did have a lot more news to share during WWW then I thought ... well kinda, if I had waited until today to post it up ... maybe I should have waited to post WWW until today to make this less confusing, haha. But hopefully this makes up for my pitiful excuse of a WWW post I did yesterday. :)

Until Next Time Folks!!! :D

  1. I just keep stumbling upon new memes that I haven't heard of before! Tuney Tuesday sounds awesome, and I really like the song you picked--how can anyone NOT like Jason Mraz? Also, your WWW post was interesting. I admire your ambition as a writer. Good luck with everything!

  2. I've never heard of this song before, but then again, I'm deprived of music in the music world since I came into it late and I never really started listening to music until the last half year and I'm still not completely there yet, so yeah, it's going to take a while with me. :)

And congratulations on your partial request! If the agent asks you for a partial manuscript HERSELF, that's huge! So congratulations!!!!

    1. Haha totally understandable Eileen :)

And thanks a lot!!! I'm hoping for the best, but expecting the worse ... especially since it's only a partial (and who knows if she'll even like my writing; she's only seen my query and my synopsis). But we'll see :)

    2. Haha just kidding ... I sent the first five pages as an attachment too.
I've sent out so many queries that I can't keep track of all the specific details for each, haha! Also, it's not normal for agents to request attachments for a query, so I forgot.

      *Fingers crossed* :)
